Roots in 1997: a Barangay Manggahan business circle

The organization traces its beginnings to 1997, when local entrepreneurs in General Trias, Cavite started meeting as what became known as the General Trias Business Club. Within the city’s early growth phase, this was a practical, ground-level circle of business owners—described in later materials as being founded by pioneering gas station owners—who shared common day-to-day concerns: local trade, permits, supply access, and coordinated problem-solving.
 

This early formation is also associated with Barangay Manggahan, where the group is described as being based. In practice, “based in Manggahan” reflects the club’s community footprint during its early years—where meetings, relationships, and local coordination were centered as the city’s commercial activity expanded.

Building momentum toward formal structure (2000–2001)

By 2000, the Business Club had expanded its network and influence and began functioning as a consistent bridge between the private sector and local governance through regular meetings and community collaboration.  The same historical account credits additional members for

organizational growth during this period.  The club’s own public description states that it was formally registered in 2001, reflecting the shift from an informal coalition to a legally recognized organization with clearer governance, continuity, and accountability.

Re-establishment and SEC re-registration in 2017: formal identity and rebrand
In 2017, the organization underwent a major institutional reset: it secured a new SEC registration and rebranded as the GTC Businessmen Association, Inc. (GTCBAI), marking a more structured phase with broader civic participation and a clearer institutional identity.The SEC registration is cited as CN201727526.
